BHA was appointed by Purelake New Homes Limited in 2011 to produce a design for a replacement building on a former industrial site at Lower Sydenham in south east London.  The proposed scheme had to re-provide the employment use already on the site plus a large number of dwellings to ensure that the whole project was economic.  The scheme consists of a large deep podium containing employment space on which sits a perimeter block of varying height containing market and affordable apartments.  These share a raised courtyard amenity space above the podium and benefit from views out over the adjacent paying fields.  Planning permission is currently awaited.
