We are pleased to report the award of planning permission to BHA client Acorn Property Group for a mixed use development Harper Road in Bermondsey. The scheme consists of 10 apartments of varying sizes arranged above ground floor commercial accommodation. The planning authority is Southwark Council, with whom the project team engaged in considerable pre-application engagement over a two year period in relation to this prominent corner site. The resulting design is uncompromisingly modern whilst harmonising with the immediate townscape and uses a high quality palette of traditional materials. Subject to detailed design, construction can now proceed on this important residential project.

We are currently seeking approval for matters reserved by condition but construction work has already commenced on site. Originally built as a large town house, the subject building was converted to a branch bank with offices over in the mid-twentieth century but more recently re-converted into apartments, leaving the former bank premises empty. It will soon be transformed into the bath house to a design (by Natalia Interior Design Limited) that makes highly creative use of the former banking hall and secure vaults. Opening in 2019!
