We are pleased to report the award of planning permission to BHA client Acorn Property Group for a mixed use development Harper Road in Bermondsey. The scheme consists of 10 apartments of varying sizes arranged above ground floor commercial accommodation. The planning authority is Southwark Council, with whom the project team engaged in considerable pre-application engagement over a two year period in relation to this prominent corner site. The resulting design is uncompromisingly modern whilst harmonising with the immediate townscape and uses a high quality palette of traditional materials. Subject to detailed design, construction can now proceed on this important residential project.

We are pleased to announce that BHA has been engaged by Integrity International Group to advise on the development of the Broadway Complex above London’s St James’s Park underground station, including the re-purposing of the iconic 55 Broadway designed by Sir Charles Holden and listed at Grade I. Briefing, appraisal and design work for a mixed use scheme has begun with a view to preparing and submitting a planning application to Westminster City Council before the year end.
BHA at Charity Cricket Festival 2019

BHA recently provided a team to participate in the one day cricket festival hosted by Global Hospitality Services on behalf of the IIG Trust. This was an enjoyable occasion, blessed with fine weather, and all the better for being in the cause of fighting the scourge of modern slavery and people trafficking. Well done to all those taking part and to our staff members who acquitted themselves very well and did better than last time in the competition!
Charity Cricket Festival 2019

We are delighted to announce that BHA is joining the Charity Cricket Festival tournament, an all-day event taking place on the 31st of May in Vincent Square, London. Global Hospitality Services is organizing this annual 6-a-side tournament to raise funds for the Integrity International Trust. We are proud to be supporting this charity that works for the eradication of people trafficking and modern slavery.
It will be a really splendid day of fun...Good luck to all teams!

We are delighted to have won planning permission for our residential led scheme Bombay Street, South Bermondsey, for developer Acorn Property Group. The decision was handed down by the Planning Inspectorate after Southwark Council made a negative determination and we were gratified to find that the Inspector appreciated the merits of this carefully crafted proposal. We look forward to the project moving onto site following the completion of detailed design work.

We are delighted to have been appointed to assist Leonardo Hotels to carry out façade upgrades at the Jurys Inn London Holborn and the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City. The proposed works will improve both the appearance and performance of the buildings’ fabric, improving operating efficiency and guest comfort. BHA is preparing planning application documents for each project, with work on both sites starting and completing in 2019.
Russian Banya, London

BHA has won planning and listed building consent, from Westminster City Council, for the change of use and conversion of a former bank premises in Grosvenor Gardens into a specialist Russian steam bath known as a banya. We are currently seeking approval for matters reserved by condition but construction work has already commenced on site. Originally built as a large town house, the subject building was converted to a branch bank with offices over in the mid-twentieth century but more recently re-converted into apartments, leaving the former bank premises empty. It will soon be transformed into the bath house to a design (by Natalia Interior Design Limited) that makes highly creative use of the former banking hall and secure vaults. Opening in 2019!

After a protracted period of negotiation with Merton Council’s planning team we are delighted to have won planning permission for the redevelopment of the William Morris public house and adjacent ‘1929 shop’ at Merton Abbey Mills into a mixed A class facility incorporating a substantial brewery. We look forward to this project going onto site early in 2019 with completion before year end.

Having spent many happy years in Grosvenor Gardens in Victoria we are pleased to announce our move to London’s delightful Fitzrovia district. From Monday 1st October 2018 our new address will be Radiant House, 34 Mortimer Street, W1W 7RF – Radiant House is a charming and historic building of which we have ground floor offices.

Arran House Hotel

BHA has won consent from Camden Council for significant internal alterations to the Arran House Hotel at 77-79 Gower Street London on behalf of operator Victor House Hotel Limited. This building, formerly a pair of town houses, dates from the late C18th and is listed at Grade II. The works that can now proceed include en-suiting of all guest rooms, installation of comfort cooling and replacement of all services. The resulting hotel will retain its period charm but offer a much higher level of comfort and service.
